      Trends Forecasting

The objective of this trend book is to encapture the mood of 2017. The chosen trend focuses on the impact of sustainability, from the initial process of raw materials,

 pair-ing back to the very basic and the emphasis of clarity through the form of a

chosen medium. In this case packaging.

 

It will be Zeitgeist influence led and the correlation of why the mood of the times reflects the needs for such change. The lead is to focus on why it is imperative to have a more ethical approach; as to ignore the effect on the environment is literally perverse as the impact is far and wide reaching.

 

“What you see it what you get” a phase which has somehow lost its allure since now a true form of an object is not enough to satisfy. Imagery and false allusions are being sold instead.

 

Packaging can be an emotive subject; from its origins, to how we get rid of it, however creating a perfect harmony for the future environment without defecting the goal of packaging is the real challenge faced by corporate’s and consumers across the globe.

 

Packaging is being seen by many as a form used to conceal a product and to deceive the customer of the quality.

 

Consistent packaging is a key selling point for many consumers across the globe and is as important as the brand itself.

Opaque walls are hiding the inner beauty making the appearance ever more important, the battle with oneself has never been more prevalent with retouched imagery

becoming the norm.

Trans-appearance is the merge of simple core materials of a sustainable fashion

creating high end-luxury outcomes.

Seasonal variations has a profound impact on packaging. The mood has been pivotal in my research and thus lead me to create an autumn and winter palette.
